Glamis Guide Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 14, 2026

Glamis Guide is made by Andy Eveland. It is an offline map of the Imperial Sand Dunes Recreation Area for iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch. This policy explains what the app does with your information. The short version: the app has no accounts, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking, and Andy Eveland does not collect or receive any personal data from it.

Location

Glamis Guide uses your device's precise location, with your permission, to show your position on the map, to calculate distances to places, to draw the direction line and compass during navigation, to mark your camp or a waypoint where you are, and to record your rides as tracks when you ask it to. Location is processed on your device and is never sent to Andy Eveland.

While a navigation session is active, or while you are recording a track, the app keeps receiving location updates in the background so that the distance shown in the Lock Screen and Dynamic Island Live Activity stays current and the track stays complete. Background location stops when you end navigation or arrive, and when you stop recording. A track is recorded only between the moment you tap the record control and the moment you stop it. You can change location permission at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services; the map, search and every place still work without it.

Weather

Conditions shown in the app come from Apple Weather. To return a forecast, the app sends the fixed coordinates of the Imperial Sand Dunes area to Apple's WeatherKit service, not your own position. Apple's handling of that request is governed by Apple's privacy policy. Attribution and data sources are listed in the app under Settings → About.

Maps

The base map, satellite imagery and the Legal link on the map are provided by Apple Maps under Apple's terms. The bundled offline imagery is derived from the USDA National Agriculture Imagery Program and is stored entirely on your device.

Saved Places, Recents and Settings

Places you save, your recent selections and your settings are stored only on your device. They are not synced to any server and are removed when you delete the app.

Camp, Waypoints and Tracks

Your marked camp, the waypoints you create and the tracks you record are stored only on your device. They are never sent to Andy Eveland or anywhere else. Deleting a waypoint or track in the app removes it; deleting the app removes them all.

Apple Watch

The Glamis Guide watch app and the iPhone app exchange your camp, your waypoints, the latest weather reading and your finished rides directly between your own devices using Apple's WatchConnectivity. Nothing passes through a server run by Andy Eveland. If you turn on Save Rides To Health, each ride is written to the Health app as a workout with your permission; the app reads nothing from Health. Save Rides To Health is off by default.

Sharing a Place or Your Camp

You can share a place from the map, or your marked camp, with the Share button. The Share sheet sends a glamisguide.app link, holding the place's name and coordinates, only to the people and apps you choose. Your other waypoints and your tracks cannot be shared. A shared camp link holds the camp's position at the moment you shared it and does not follow later changes.

App Clip

Someone without Glamis Guide who opens a shared link gets the Glamis Guide App Clip. With permission, it uses their location on their device to show how far away the shared place is and which way to head. That location is never sent to Andy Eveland, and the App Clip stores nothing about them.

No Accounts, Analytics or Tracking

Glamis Guide does not require an account, does not use analytics or crash-reporting services, does not show advertising, does not include third-party SDKs, and does not track you across apps or websites. The app's Apple privacy manifest declares precise location as the only data type collected, used solely for app functionality, not linked to your identity and not used for tracking.

This Website

glamisguide.app uses Vercel Web Analytics to count page views and visitors. It sets no cookies, collects no personal information and cannot identify you or follow you to other sites. Visits are counted in aggregate: the page viewed, the referring site, and the browser, device type and country. None of this applies to the app.

Feedback Email

A place's card offers Submit Feedback, which opens an email to support@glamisguide.app in your mail app. The draft includes a screenshot of your screen at that moment, the place's name and coordinates, the app version, your device model, its system version, and your language and region setting. Nothing is sent unless you choose to send that email, and you can edit or remove any of it first.

Children's Privacy

Glamis Guide is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children.

Changes to This Policy

If our data practices change, we will update this page and revise the "Last updated" date above.
